Rotary Dryer

Rotary dryer, also called drum dryer or rotary drum dryer, is one of the most common dryer in the mining industry. It’s suitable for drying magnetic, heavy and flotation concentrate of metal and non-ferrous minerals, clay of cement industry and coal slime of coal industry. It’s widely used in metallurgy, building materials, food, chemical, coal, medicine and light industries.

Wet materials are sent to the hopper through belt conveyor or bucket elevator and then into the feeding end by the feeder. The angle of feeding pipe should be larger than the natural slope of materials making it convenient to slide into the dryer. The dryer is a rotary cylinder with a certain slope. Materials enter from the higher end while the heating medium enters from the lower end which forms counter-flow contact or they can enter into the drum together. Along with the rotation, materials move to the lower end by gravity. Wet materials are directly or indirectly heated by heating medium so as to be dried and finally are discharged through belt conveyor or screw conveyor. There is a lifter inside the wall of the drum. The drum dryer is to lift and disperse materials to enlarge contact area with the airflow aimed at increasing the drying speed and pushing them forward. Heating medium includes hot air and fuel gas. After that, materials will be collected by cyclone dust collector. For further reduction of dust content, bag or wet dust collector should be put into use.
